Privacy & Security

Built to protect sensitive case information.

CaseTrace is designed to help increase public awareness for missing-person cases while treating submitted information, personal details, and agency workflows with care.

Important: CaseTrace is not an emergency reporting system. If someone is in immediate danger, call 911 or contact local law enforcement directly.

Tips are not public

Information submitted through CaseTrace is not displayed publicly on case pages. Public case pages are intended for awareness, sharing, flyers, and verified case details.

Sensitive information is limited

CaseTrace is designed to avoid exposing unnecessary personal or sensitive information to the public. Submitted contact information should only be used for review or follow-up where appropriate.

Basic analytics

CaseTrace uses basic analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, to understand public site traffic and improve the platform. We do not use analytics to collect private case tips, private submission details, or sensitive personal information.

Official sources remain primary

CaseTrace does not replace official law enforcement records, NamUs listings, agency websites, or emergency reporting channels. Official sources remain the primary authority.

Agency access is controlled

Agency-facing tools should be limited to authorized users. Case editing, tip review, and status updates are intended for approved agency or administrative access only.

Public awareness, not public investigation

The public can help by sharing cases, downloading flyers, and submitting relevant information. CaseTrace does not encourage harassment, speculation, or interference with investigations.

Correction requests are encouraged

If an agency, family representative, or verified source identifies incorrect information, CaseTrace should provide a clear path to request updates or removal.
