Ellen Ruth DOMB was last seen on December 5, 2025, while participating in a recreational scuba dive on the USNS Vandenberg wreck offshore Key West, Monroe County, Florida. DOMB entered the water from the private vessel Activated Eau and became separated from her dive partner within minutes of descent due to strong current conditions. Her dive partner was recovered by a nearby dive vessel; however, DOMB continued her descent alone and failed to resurface as planned. At the time of her disappearance, DOMB was wearing standard scuba diving equipment, including a TUSA Liberator Sigma II buoyancy compensator jacket (BCJ), Model BC0101M / BC0101B, Serial Number K0510010. She was also wearing a 14-pound weight belt and yellow/green fins. An aluminum 80-cubic-foot scuba tank was used for the dive. Extensive multi-day search and rescue operations were conducted by the United States Coast Guard and assisting agencies utilizing surface, subsurface, and aerial assets. DOMB has not been located.
