On June 13, 2014, Jaidyn Baker-Dizon was picked up from daycare in Tacoma, Washington by her mother. Her mother began making arrangements for Jaidyn to stay with her grandmother, but while on the phone, the call was abruptly ended, and neither Jaidyn nor her mother were heard from for two years. The mother re-established contact with her family in 2016, but no one had seen Jaidyn. When the family continued to question Jaidyn's whereabouts, her mother again cut off contact. The last sighting of the mother was from a TikTok video in December of 2024 of herself and her 5 younger children outside a shelter in Las Vegas, Nevada. Jaidyn, who by this time would have been 15 years old, was absent from the video. The family investigated shelters in the Las Vegas area but could find no information related to Jaidyn. When a welfare check was conducted on the mother’s home, she reported that Jaidyn was staying with friends in Washington and only gave the vaguest of details. She later told authorities that Jaidyn was taken to Canada by a family friend, but this could not be verified.
