Summary
On 01-22-2024, Mason Lawing and two friends were boating on the South Umpqua River in Roseburg, Oregon during high waters after heavy rains. The boat capsized and all three were thrown into the water. The two other persons made it to shore but Mason Lawing was seen being carried downstream. Several members of law enforcement were involved in tracking the subject's progress downstream as resources were brought into the area to assist. A rescue boat had nearly reached the area when Mason Lawing was seen being pulled beneath the surface by the current. He did not resurface. Continued efforts to locate him have been unsuccessful.
