On July 31, 1955 (According to newspaper reports), five individuals from Salt Lake City rented a small aluminum boat from Moon Lake Lodge/Resort, Duchesne County, Utah. Witnesses said the boat had two motors: one at the back and one on the side. The sheriff stated the group was too large for the small boat. Calvin, Ruby, and Clarence were on that boat. Witnesses said both motors were running, and the boat was swinging in circles before it overturned. The boat sank immediately. The sheriff stated that the weight of the two motors took it to the bottom despite air compartments in the aluminum craft. The accident occurred in the deepest part of Moon Lake, estimated to be 115 to 125 feet deep. Calvin Wayne Bosen (MP127057), Ruby Mae Simons Bosen (MP127055), and Clarence Delmer Bosen (MP127053) drowned. A full-scale search operation was conducted by the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office. A large search was conducted with a group using grappling hooks. Four boats dragged the lake in a half-mile area. Sheriff Stevenson requested a diver but could not locate one who could handle the depth until Tuesday, Aug 2nd. The sheriff used a light aircraft to fly over the lake, looking for the bodies
