Summary
Mandana left her home in Twisp, WA around July 22, 1984. She visited friends in Walla Walla, WA and then went to Wallowa County, Oregon to backpack into Hells Canyon National Recreation Area. She was not an experienced back packer. She planned to be gone 4-6 weeks. Her mother last heard from her on 08/02/1984. A worker at the Imnaha Cafe stated a female Forest Service employee gave Mandana a ride to Imnaha Road on 08/03/1984 or 08/04/1984. Mandana has never been heard from or seen again. She was reported missing to the Wallowa County Sheriff's Office on 09/27/1984. A package postmarked 08/04/1984 in the Tri-Cities (Richland/Pasco/Kennewick) WA was sent to Mandana's home address in Twisp. It was addressed to Mandana and it contained her driver's license, passport, and assorted personal notes.
