Summary
Mr. Johnson was last seen on video surveillance footage departing from the Federal Point Yacht Club on 11/22/2021 at approximately 1100 hours in his 19-foot 2006 Marine Clearwater 1900CC center console boat. Mr. Johnson was seen by himself on the vessel and was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, black shorts, and a black ball cap. The last time Mr. Johnson's cell phone pinged was on 11/22/2021 at 1717 hours off of Bald Head Island, NC. On 6/21/2022, the Carolina Beach Police Department was contacted by authorities in São Jorge Island, Azores, Portugal in reference to locating Mr. Johnson's missing vessel. The condition of the vessel showed heavy barnacle and algae buildup indicative of the vessel having been capsized and/or on shore for an unknown extended period of time. The Portuguese authorities conducted an examination of the vessel and a search of the area and was unable to locate Mr. Johnson or obtain information on his whereabouts.
