Barry James was visiting from England with a friend, and went for a swim at Waialee Beach Park. His friend witnessed him enter the water, and the friend proceeded back to their vehicle to read. When Barry's friend returned to check on him, it appeared he never exited the water as his belongings were still on the beach. An extensive search was conducted for Barry James however, he was never found.
