On 7/31/2015, Orlando Police officers responded to Ohio Avenue and Sunset Lake Drive due to a suspicious incident. A passenger vehicle serving as a taxi had been set on fire. It appeared that the vehicle fire had been set to to destroy evidence of a violent crime. Indications from the scene led initial responders to believe that there was an attempt to push the vehicle into the lake. The taxi company advised the vehicle was assigned to Michael Lee Smith. He was not located at the scene. Aviation resources and bloodhounds were utilized to search for him near the scene with negative results.
