Summary
On 07/27/1990, Laura and Isaac Kayutak (MP #66671) left Barrow on an outing that was to have lasted about 10 days. They were visited at their camp on 08/04/1990 by Barrow residents seeking directions to a fishing camp on the Chipp River. This was the last time they were seen. On 08/08/1990, searchers found the pair's 18 foot skiff overturned and stuck on a sandbar in Admiralty Bay, about 45 miles southeast of Barrow, the northernmost community in the United States. A sleeping bag and Laura's dog, which had drowned, were found as well. Searchers later found canvas bags containing camping gear and medication owned by the pair. It is presumed that Isaac and Laura were headed back to Barrow when their skiff capsized.
