Victim departed a base hunting camp at Iniskin Bay in a 14-foot skiff to attempt to pick up two stranded hunters. A witness observed him enter a channel in the main part of Iniskin Bay having trouble fighting the tide and observed him go out of sight towards Cook Inlet. On 05/13/1980, the skiff was discovered west of shore, approximately six miles into Iniskin Bay and there was no sign of Crossan. Despite numerous search efforts, he was never located.
