On the morning of December 11, 2001 Bengt-Olov Sjoestroem and one of his business colleagues visiting from Sweden boarded and flew a small Mooney airplane from Seattle, Washington to Arcata, California. They were on the trip back up the Oregon coast to Seattle when the plane went missing. Several items from the plane belonging to Mr. Sjoestroem have been found along the beaches on the North Oregon Coast, but no remains have been identified as Bengt-Olov Sjoestroem.
