KEY WEST, Fla. — The Coast Guard is searching for a man who went out on his boat Saturday morning and never returned as planned. Missing is Arend "Arnie" Van Der Hoven, 50, of Sarasota. The Coast Guard was notified by Blackfin Marina employees that Van Der Hoven left on his 21-foot center console boat from the marina around 8 a.m. and never returned at 2 p.m. as expected. Coast Guard Sector Key West watchstanders quickly launched multiple assets including a Coast Guard Station Marathon boat crew and a Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater HC-130 Hercules aircraft crew. The Hercules crew found the boat stranded approximately one mile South of Duck Key, Fla., with no sign of Van Der Hoven.
