Leggett disappeared from the Ross Cotton Gin, her place of employment, between 4:30PM and 4:45PM on October 9, 1984. She was last seen speaking with two men outside. On the same day, at approximately 4:45PM, her parents received two phone calls indicating that their daughter had been kidnapped. Leggett's family drove to the Ross Cotton Gin, which is owned by Leggett's father-in-law, and found her car with her purse and keys in it. She left behind her husband and young son. Foul play is suspected.
