Went ocean fishing in 16' outboard boat. Never returned. Wife of MP contacted USCG at 07:30 Am on 8-18-1973. USCG later found boat floating 1.5 miles off Bethany Beach, DE. The engine cover was found to be removed from the engine, suggesting mechanical failure. of engine. Sheridan's wallet and glasses were on board the boat. Incident was not reported to Delaware State Police until October 1, 1973.
