On the last day Patterson Sr. was seen, his sister had taken him to the doctor and brought him back to his home. She then drove him to her home, also on Fork Hill Road. She went inside the house while Patterson stayed outside. Five minutes later, she came back outside and saw Patterson walking down the road toward Kershaw, near the intersection of Fork Hill and Pleasant Plains roads
