On December 3, 2025, a family member traveled to Maine to pick up James Moss. They began driving south on Interstate 95 and stopped in Fayetteville, North Carolina. After visiting a Best Buy, James stated he wanted to remain in the area overnight to purchase a laptop the next day. They parked behind a Home Depot to sleep. At approximately 2:00 a.m. on December 4, 2025, James exited the vehicle without speaking and walked into a nearby wooded area. He did not have a phone and has not been seen or heard from since. James is unfamiliar with the Fayetteville area and has no known contacts there. He was last seen wearing dark sweatpants, a multi-colored knitted sweatshirt, and dark brown boots, carrying a large black backpack.
