The Civil Air Patrol reported that an aircraft emergency locator transmitter was received by SARSAT with the possible location being west of Mt. Eddy. The signal being the strongest in McCloud, Ca. It was determined that the ELT signal was coming from the east face of Mt. Shasta. Wreckage was located on 6/20/2005 of a single engine airplane on the lower Konwakakiton Glacier at 11,400 feet. The wreckage was identified as belonging to Robert Ayres who was in route home to Washington from San Diego. Due to avalanche conditions the wreckage was not accessed. Robert Ayres was never found/recovered.
