On June 20, 2025, at approximately 1730 hours, the Sheriff's Office received a report regarding a missing 75-year-old male. The reporting party, a family member, advised that the missing person (MP) had contacted them via phone later that evening at approximately 2200 hours, and reported he was near a road marker labeled “7.6.32.1.” Deputies responded promptly and located the referenced road marker within a few hours. However, the MP was no longer present at that location when law enforcement arrived. Investigative data showed that the MP’s cell phone last pinged on June 20, 2025, at approximately 2000 hours near GPS coordinates 44.92095, -123.43023, placing the device within an approximate 1000-meter radius of that location. Additional information was obtained from HUM vehicle telemetry data associated with the MP’s vehicle, a 1999 white Toyota 4Runner bearing Oregon license plate 946DFC. Data indicated that the MP arrived in the Rickreall Creek area at approximately 1400 hours. The vehicle was subsequently tracked driving toward the Mercer Reservoir before turning around at what appeared to be an impassable section of roadway.
