Approximately six weeks later, Montanez's family received a message indicating that he had passed and scavengers had gained access to his remains. The family thought this was odd because they had never received any official information that their son had passed. It is unknown specifically where this allegedly occurred. The MP was last known to reside in a riverbed or wash in or near the city of Azusa.
