Over the past few years McKinnon has gone missing for several days at a time, which has been reported to law enforcement previously. On June 9, 2022 McKinnon went for a walk at approximately 1200 hours which is a normal activity for him. Later in the day he was observed walking north on Ivey Lane towards Malibu Street towards his home at approximately 1800 hours. McKinnon never arrived home on June 9, 2022.
