On 07/07/2020, Monte's sister called and to report Monte as missing. He had not been heard from in approximately 12 days prior to the report. He had been driving his mother's vehicle, which was recovered and towed as abandoned at a local park in Durango, CO, on 06/12/2020. He worked at a local transportation company, and they had not heard from him in approximately 1 month. On 07/09/2021, a citizen found Monte's wallet w/ his ID card, credit cards, and currency in the Animas River in Durango City Limits. The wallet was heavily damaged by water, and other contents were deemed unidentifiable. It was unknown what clothing he was wearing last.
