Allan was last seen on 06/04/1969 while out boating on Pyramid Lake. News reports state that Allan noticed the boat started drifting away from shore when he climbed aboard to attempt to save the watercraft from floating away, but he did not know how to operate the vessel. A large storm producing severe wind gusts was in the area at the time and quickly swept the boat out, away from shore. The 16-foot boat was located approximately 2 miles west from an area known as Hells Kitchen the day after the initial incident (9.33-miles away from the last location Allan was seen), but Allan was not located. The search continued for another day after the vessel was located, and was ended on June 6, 1969.
