Rosa was last seen on June 23, 2007 at approx 1400 hrs, going to the store with her boyfriend by the name of Jose Clain Lopez. On June 24, 2007 Madera County Sheriff's reached out to SGPD to stop by the residence and ask about Rosa's whereabouts. Rosa's brother, Jose Ramos stated he did not know her whereabouts or any additional information regarding her dissapearance. Madera County Sheriff's had conducted a traffic stop on MA-Ramos's vehicle, a 1993 Ford Thunderbird, and the driver was her boyfriend Jose Lopez. Jose had blood on his shirt, and a pool of blood was found in the vehicle. Her boyfriend was arrested initially for violating conditions of parole, but was subsequently charged with her murder.
