Wesley departed Kenai on the morning of 12-03-1994 piloting a 1965 Cessna 206, blue and white in color with tail #N5282U. He was the sole occupant and was transporting mail and freight from Kenai to Homer. A radar reading indicated that the missing plane was flying the coastline between Kenai and Homer and a last point or radar contact was south of Ninilchik and approximately 2 miles offshore. The weather in this area was extremely bad at the time. There was heavy snowfall in the Ninilchik area, and it was raining in Homer. Authorities searched for Wesley but found no sign of him or the aircraft.
