Evan was last seen on 06/02/1990 in a boat on the Holitna River below Kashegelok. Per media, his abandoned boat was found on the Holitna River, 75 miles southeast of Aniak near Taylor Mountain. Evan had been hunting with another man when the pair separated and Evan took his boat upriver to visit some friends. He failed to return so his hunting partner and several other boaters searched the area which is when his boat was found.
