On August 19th, 2025, the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office received a welfare check request from a family member of Linda Thacker. Linda was a St. Onge, SD resident. Linda had been out of contact with family since Monday August 18th, 2025. Through the use of technology and cooperation with the Crook County Sheriff's Office, Linda's vehicle was located in a remote area near the South Dakota-Wyoming border.
