On January 18, 2018, witnesses reported Jose Rodriguez Alvarez crossing the sea wall close to the "spouting Horn" in Depoe Bay, where a large wave washed him off the rocks. The Coast Guard responded but were unable to locate or recover Mr. Rodriguez Alvarez.
