Perry was reportedly depressed about a recent Alzheimer's diagnosis but her cognition was not yet impacted by the disease. Perry cancelled a dental appointment she purportedly left her home for and never returned. Her vehicle was subsequently located abandoned at the Gridley Trailhead in Ojai, CA. A four day search was unsuccessful. On March 20, 2017, SAR Teams conducted a second search of the area which was also unsuccessful. There has been no information about Perry or evidence of her existence subsequent to the initial report.
