On July 20, 2016 it was reported that 55-year-old Belen Potts and her 29-year-old son Ernest Potts had not been seen or heard from since last Thursday night (July 14, 2016). The pair had mentioned they planned to go hiking at Redington Pass on Friday July 15, 2016. Both Ms. Potts and Mr. Potts were scheduled to work over the weekend but did not show or call in which is unusual for them. Mr. Potts was described as a Caucasian male, 5’6”, 180lbs, with blonde hair and green or hazel eyes and a full beard. The pair was said to be associated to a 2013 red Ford Focus four-door hatchback bearing Arizona license plate BVY1415. Mr. and Ms. Potts were last seen at their residence on July 14, 2016. On July 29, 2016 the red Ford Focus associated to the Potts family was located in a remote area of Redington Pass, near Mile Post 11. Hikers in the area located the vehicle off the roadway and down an embankment. They had also located a deceased person in the area of the vehicle who was later identified as Ms. Belen Potts. No one else was located near the vehicle.
