Sandy Canipe, 48, of 112 Dyer Dr., was last seen around 5:30 p.m. on January 16th 2016 near his home in Shelby, NC. Volunteers searched a 7-mile radius around Canipe’s home, for multiple days. More than 50 people from law enforcement and emergency personnel, along with police K-9’s and drones found no trace of Canipe in the area. Canipe is 5-foot-9-inches tall, approximately 125-lbs and has short brown hair and green eyes. Due to conflicting statements, it is unknown as to what Canipe was last wearing at the time of his disappearance. He has no history of any medical condition that would cause him to become disoriented. The search for Canipe, which lasted about a week, was called off on January 21st 2016. The case remains open, and anyone with information is asked to call 911 or the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office at 704-484-4822.
