Jason Harper hasn't been seen since he set out alone May 4, 2004 to climb 16,237-foot Mount Sanford in the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. Harper was dropped off at Windy Ridge on Mount Sanford by a pilot. The area is about 3,000 feet high and about 20 miles northwest of the summit. When the pilot returned May 9th to pick him up, he was not at the designated spot. A base camp Harper had made during his summit attempt was found, including most of his camping gear. Search and rescue efforts were unable to locate Harper.
