The two brothers had traveled to Matamoros, Mexico to visit family, a trip they did every few months. Unlike previous trips, the two brothers decided they would leave their location in Matamoros which was about 20 minutes south of Brownsville, Texas at about 2 AM and make the trip back to the United States.
