James Cole left his home Sunday morning, 8/31/2025, around 7:15 am. He was wearing a red flannel, blue jeans, and boots. An object was holstered on his belt but it's unclear if this was a firearm or some other tool. He was scheduled to work in Abilene that morning but never showed up to work. His truck was later located in Herington, KS, near the Flint Hills Nature Trail head. Law enforcement conducted extensive searches in the area without success. James left behind his phone, laptop, wallet, and truck keys with no indication of where he was going.
