Joshua departed his family residence in Naugatuck, Connecticut in January 2025, stating that he intended to be away for a few days. Joshua did not return home. On May 7, 2025, Joshua contacted his mother by phone and stated that he was in Hawaii and would not be returning home. Joshua has a documented history of leaving home for extended periods and living transiently in various locations. Records indicate that Joshua took multiple inter-island flights within Hawaii through December 2025. Around this time, Joshua was officially reported missing and entered as a File 6 in COLLECT.
