On 9/13/1976, at approximately 9:55PM, Kenai flight services received a mayday call from an aircraft in the Lake Clark Pass area between Drift River and the West Forelands. The pilot and lone occupant of the single-engine aircraft (red and white Citabria with tail number N5VB) presumably crashed in the Lake Clark Pass area. Search efforts failed to locate Dr. James Harbin.
