CaseTrace Update: YouTube, Recent Media Coverage, and App Releases Coming Soon

CaseTrace has had a busy stretch, and we wanted to share a quick update on where things stand and what is coming next.

The mission is still the same:

Share the flyer. Check the source. Avoid rumors.

CaseTrace was built to help missing-person cases stay visible, easier to share, and connected to source information. Behind every flyer is a real person, and every update we make is meant to support responsible awareness — not speculation, not rumors, and not turning cases into content.

CaseTrace Is Now on YouTube

CaseTrace now has an official YouTube channel:

https://youtube.com/@casetraceapp

We plan to use YouTube more often to share short, respectful missing-person awareness videos, platform updates, responsible sharing reminders, and case flyer visibility content.

The goal is not to turn missing-person cases into entertainment.

The goal is to help more names, faces, and flyers stay seen.

YouTube Shorts give us another way to put missing-person flyers in front of people who may have never seen them otherwise. Each video will stay focused on verified details, source-connected flyer pages, and the reminder that tips should go to law enforcement or the listed agency — not into public comment threads.

We are still learning the best way to use the channel, but early signs show that short awareness videos can help reach new people quickly.

Recent Media Coverage

CaseTrace has also recently received local media attention from NBC4 and Spectrum News 1.

NBC4 covered the launch and mission behind the platform:

Spectrum News 1 also covered CaseTrace and the larger conversation around missing-person visibility, accuracy, and responsible sharing:

We are grateful for the coverage because it helps more people understand what CaseTrace is trying to do.

At the same time, media coverage is not the finish line. It is part of the process of building trust, answering questions, listening to feedback, and continuing to improve.

One important point we continue to emphasize is that CaseTrace is not a replacement for law enforcement, official databases, NCMEC, NamUs, state clearinghouses, or local agencies.

CaseTrace is a public awareness tool.

The goal is to help missing-person flyers stay visible while keeping people connected to source information whenever possible.

Why Source-Connected Awareness Matters

Missing-person information has to be handled carefully.

That is why CaseTrace is built around source-connected case pages. When possible, flyer pages link back to public source information such as NamUs, NCMEC, attorney general resources, law enforcement notices, or other listed public sources.

We are not trying to add rumors, theories, or extra narrative on top of those records.

The goal is simple:

Help people see the flyer. Help people check the source. Help people share responsibly.

If information needs to be corrected or updated, we want that handled carefully and respectfully.

Accuracy matters. Families matter. Agencies matter. Public trust matters.

App Releases Are Coming Soon

CaseTrace is also moving closer to mobile app releases.

The goal for the mobile app is to make it easier for people to browse, view, and share missing-person flyers responsibly from their phone.

The app experience will focus on the public-facing mission:

  • view missing-person flyers
  • explore cases
  • browse by state and city
  • see recently added flyers
  • open source-connected case pages
  • share flyer links responsibly
  • access trust and support information

The mobile app will not be an emergency reporting tool.

If someone is in immediate danger, call 911. If someone has information about a missing-person case, they should contact law enforcement or the listed agency directly.

What Comes Next

CaseTrace is still growing, and there is a lot more to build.

Some of the next priorities include:

  • improving mobile app readiness
  • continuing YouTube awareness videos
  • strengthening flyer page visibility in search
  • building more responsible sharing tools
  • improving poster and flyer options
  • adding more creator and advocate resources
  • continuing outreach to families, advocates, agencies, and media
  • making sure the platform stays respectful, accurate, and source-connected

This is still early, but the mission is clear.

Missing-person cases should not disappear just because the feed moves on.

Some cases receive wide attention. Others barely reach anyone outside their own town. CaseTrace is trying to help more names, faces, and flyers stay visible — without turning the work into rumors, speculation, or a popularity contest.
